Project OverviewThe project focuses on the development of sustainable and safe alternatives to traditional bisphenol A (BPA) coatings. The researcher will work on creating biologically sourced coatings using tomato pomace, a by-product of the fruit processing industry, and enhance them with microcrystalline cellulose and gallate esters for improved mechanical strength, antibacterial properties, and antioxidant capabilities.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct research on developing sustainable and bioactive lacquers from tomato pomace for use in food metal packaging.
- Compare the properties of these new coatings with traditional BPA-based resins.
- Evaluate the environmental impact and production costs of the new manufacturing process.
- Work with environmentally friendly and scalable technologies to achieve the desired coating characteristics.
- Bachelor's and Master's degree in Chemistry, Food Science, or a related field.
- Desirable experience in polymer science and/or food packaging.
