We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Database Engineer to join our team at New Relic. As a key member of our database infrastructure team, you will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our database systems.
Key Responsibilities- Database Design and Implementation: Design and implement highly scalable and performant database systems using MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis, and Kubernetes.
- Database Management and Orchestration: Develop and maintain tools and applications to facilitate database management and orchestration, ensuring high availability, performance, and security.
- Cloud Database Expertise: Leverage cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) and their managed database services (RDS, Amazon Aurora) to design and implement scalable database solutions.
- Automation and DevOps: Develop automation scripts and tools to streamline database and Kubernetes-related tasks, such as provisioning, backup, scaling, and monitoring.
- 4+ years of experience running highly scalable databases and database infrastructure.
- BS/MS in Computer Science or relevant field.
- Experience with Kubernetes, including developing and maintaining controllers.
- Cloud platform expertise (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) and managed database services (RDS, Amazon Aurora).
- Software development skills in Go and experience with containerization technologies (Docker).
- Infrastructure as code frameworks (Terraform) and Agile methodologies.
- Strong problem-solving skills and excellent communication skills.
- Proficiency in MySQL, PostgreSQL, and/or Redis including schema design, query optimization, and performance tuning.
- Experience in cloud DBaaS production environments.
- Familiarity with Crossplane or similar tools for controlling cloud-managed services.
- Solid understanding of Linux operating system and concepts such as virtual machines and containers.
