Casualty Underwriter Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Casualty Underwriter to join our team at AXA XL. As a Casualty Underwriter, you will be responsible for underwriting new and renewal business for a range of clients in Spain and Portugal.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Underwrite and manage a renewal book and produce new business in accordance with business unit goals and aligned with local and group underwriting guidelines.
  • Develop and manage underwriting strategies for both renewals and targets within your portfolio of accounts.
  • Analyse and evaluate risks showing technical consistency.
  • Build and enhance relationships with brokers and clients and identify and establish new distribution relationships.
  • Maintain expertise with the products, services, priorities, and targeted markets.
  • Maintain awareness of all claims advised while supporting and providing input on settlement of claims.
  • Identify and drive new product development opportunities.
  • Effectively cross-market with other AXA XL lines; meet with brokers and insureds as required.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Law, Business Administration or Engineering.
  • Good English command.
  • Some years of experience in underwriting, policy development, and broker management in Liability.
  • Good Market and Industry knowledge. Valued knowledge of the Portuguese Market.
  • Understand stakeholders needs and concerns and identifies points of agreement.
  • Efficiently manages the interactions with other parties involved.
  • Know and use selling and negotiation techniques; adapt to the customer's situation, needs and behaviour.
  • Good Analytical skills.
