Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Wildfire Modeler to join our team. As a key member of our climate risk management team, you will be responsible for advancing our understanding and simulation methodologies for wildfire hazards. Your expertise will be pivotal in developing robust models and methodologies aimed at assessing and managing wildfire risk.
Key Responsibilities
- Wildfire Science Expertise: Provide comprehensive insights into fire behavior, ecology, and the impact of climate and atmospheric drivers on wildfire hazard and risk.
- Methodology Development: Contribute to defining scientific and technical methodologies for wildfire research.
- Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Act as a liaison between wildfire science and atmospheric/climate experts to ensure seamless integration of knowledge and expertise.
- Project Leadership: Lead or co-lead committed projects, demonstrating initiative and ownership.
Requirements
- PhD in a technical discipline or Environmental Science
- Deep knowledge of wildfire science
- Strong statistical proficiency
- Experience in catastrophe modeling (a plus)
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills
