Key Responsibilities- Technical Support: Provide technical support to regional development teams, asset management teams, and other stakeholders on matters related to electrical engineering and technology for assets in different stages.
- Engineering Due Diligence: Conduct engineering and technical due diligence on potential acquisition projects, working proactively with country teams to develop solutions for mitigating risks and adding value.
- Project Management: Participate or lead projects to investigate root cause analysis of performance issues, resolve defects, equipment failures, and incidents on site to minimize downtime.
- System Analysis: Perform reviews of complex system analyses, such as protective coordination, fault studies, power quality, voltage stability, and system expansion studies.
- Grid Code Compliance: Review and ensure project's grid code compliance.
- Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as a subject matter expert for areas related to plant operations, power, and transmission systems.
- Procedure Development: Review, formulate, and implement operating and safety procedures and guidelines for system facilities, including substations, transmission, distribution, and generation.
- Design and Optimization: Develop and/or lead early-stage engineering designs for utility-scale electrical assets, including layouts, SLDs, and equipment selection. Undertake LCOE optimization and analysis for new projects.
- Feasibility Studies: Focus on developing conceptual designs that incorporate industry and commercial best practices, providing the performance team with the inputs they need to run the EYA.
- Repowering Projects: Support repowering projects by structuring the process between procurement, engineering, and Owner's Engineering.
- Design Review: Review project designs, suitability for site specifics, and make recommendations for optimization for safe and reliable expected operational life.
- Equipment Specification: Support Cubico's development projects by contributing to major equipment specification and selection, defining minimum requirements and specifications in tender packages, reviewing agreements, and technical annexes, and participating in negotiations.
- EPC and O&M: Similarly, support projects activities in defining EPC and O&M contractor obligations, requirements, and technical specifications, reviewing agreements, and technical annexes, and participating in negotiations.
- Project Support: Support Project Manager on technical matters during construction, mechanical completion, PAC, and FAC, including specifying and/or carrying out QAQC protocols, acceptance testing, site inspections, and End of Warranty inspections, and supporting the Project Manager on follow-up and resolution of identified issues and negotiate with contractors and suppliers on the outcome of such inspections.
- Process Development: Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of best practice management processes, guidance, and standards related to electrical engineering that embed lessons learned and knowledge gained for the benefit of the whole company.
- Site Visits: Attend site visits and factory acceptance tests as required.
- Tool Development: Develop and maintain tools to support the assessment of DEVEX, CAPEX, and OPEX assumptions.
- Education: Master's Degree in engineering (Electrical) or other relevant engineering discipline.
- Experience: Experience in engineering, preferably in the building of large power stations or PV or other utility-scale power projects.
- Technical Knowledge: Depth of knowledge of electrical technology and subsystems, including good knowledge of the factors affecting electrical plant performance.
- Component Suppliers: Detailed knowledge of major component suppliers.
- Agreements: Experience in EPC, O&M, and equipment supply agreements technical specifications/annexes drafting, proposals evaluation, and negotiations.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to understand the technical implications of commercial objectives, identifying the right course of action for long-term asset value.
- Collaboration: Ability to collaborate and lead/participate in multi-disciplinary teams.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills, including building relationships with colleagues and suppliers in numerous countries and cultures and to translate complex technical problems clearly to non-technical audiences.
- Project Management: Ability to work with several projects at the same time.
- Flexibility: Openness to different and new ways of doing things; willingness to modify one's preferred way of doing things.
- Results-Driven: Strong drive for results, setting challenging goals and exceeding them.
- Professional Attitude: Professional and diligent attitude.
- Language Skills: Fluent English speaker. Spanish in addition is an advantage.
- Travel: Willingness to travel internationally locally and internationally.
