Job SummaryThe Gaelic Linguist will be responsible for performing quality control tasks and on-demand translation tasks on assigned accounts/projects. This role requires a strong understanding of the localization process, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work with tight deadlines.
Key Responsibilities- Quality Control and Translation: Perform copy-edit tasks on assigned projects or accounts on Gaelic, ensuring high-quality output within specified deadlines.
- Linguistic Adaptation: Perform linguistic adaptation tasks into English, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
- Project Support: Provide lead support on assigned projects or accounts, managing and maintaining language materials, and resolving project-related queries.
- Team Collaboration: Ensure good interaction among team members, resolving questions on terminology and language matters.
- Freelancer Management: Test and qualify new freelancers and vendors as required, developing and training internal linguists and freelancers according to account and company needs.
- Client Communication: Interact with clients on linguistic matters as required, providing clear and concise information.
- Process Improvement: Participate in the development of new and improved working processes, achieving goals set by the Squad Lead.
- Education: University degree in Translation/Applied Languages or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in translation/localization.
- Language Skills: Native fluency in Gaelic and English.
- Localization Knowledge: Thorough understanding of the localization process.
- Software Skills: Good user experience of standard software, such as Windows and Office applications, and CAT tools like XTM and SDL Studio.
- Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Terminology Knowledge: Excellent knowledge of terminology used in two or more subject matters.
- Time Management: Ability to work with tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
- Training and Development: Ability to train and teach others, passing on knowledge and expertise.
- Customer Communication: Ability to communicate positively with customers at various levels.
- Virtual Teamwork: Ability to work within a virtual team.
