About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Metal Commodity Development Engineer to join our team at Exponent Energy. As a key member of our Operations and Engineering team, you will play a crucial role in developing innovative and cost-effective design solutions for our metal manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize engineering techniques and considerations of manufacturing processes and technology to develop design solutions that meet safety and environmental regulations and standards.
  • Support timely manufacturing issue resolution through direct interfacing with plant and manufacturing personnel to ensure Design for Manufacturing (DFM) requirements are met.
  • Control of engineering standards for metal manufacturing, including knowledge of 3D modeling and SolidWorks.
  • Support Engineering and manufacturing Launch activities for new products.
  • Identify and collect information pertinent to engineering calculations to analyze and resolve design problems.
  • Work effectively with Supplier Quality/Manufacturing to ensure designs are efficient for manufacturing and meet quality requirements.
  • Provide and communicate creative solutions to problems.
Requirements
  • Understanding of metal manufacturing processes, including modern and conventional techniques.
  • Knowledge of tooling and gauging.
  • Basic knowledge of SolidWorks.
  • Knowledge of DFMEA/PFMEA, DFM, GD&T DFA, and other robust tools to build foolproof products.
  • Knowledge of Quality documentation, including CP, PPAP, APQP, PFMEA, MSA, PSW.
  • Knowledge of inspection methodology and techniques.
  • Knowledge of statistical process control.
