About the Role

Westinghouse Electric Company LLC. is seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Engineer to join its Radiation Engineering & Analysis (REA) group. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for supporting the design and analysis of Pressurized Water Reactors (PWRs) and other advanced reactor designs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead specific scopes on large commercial nuclear and decommissioning projects, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of results.
  • Perform neutron transport calculations, review plant drawings, and build transport models to analyze radiation effects.
  • Conduct fluence, activation, heating rate, and dosimetry calculations, critically analyze results, and produce technical documentation.
  • Support radiation source term calculations, post-irradiation compositions using ORIGEN, coolant activity, and other relevant codes.
  • Provide licensing support for the Decontamination & Decommissioning (D&D) of retiring plants, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and implement radiation shielding calculations, decay heat analysis, and operating Nuclear Power Plants (NPPs) support.
  • Collaborate with the team to develop and maintain state-of-the-art codes, including RAPTOR-M3G, MCNP, DOORS, and SCALE.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Nuclear Engineering (or similar) required.
  • 5+ years of applicable experience in nuclear engineering, radiation protection, or a related field.
  • English-language skills: B2 (verbal) and C1 (written).
  • Spanish-language skills: B2 (verbal) and C1 (written).
  • Experience with Linux, programming, and computational simulation is preferred.
  • Knowledge of relevant computer codes (MCNP, SCALE, etc.) is also preferred.
