Join Pfizer Belgium as a Scientist in Oncology Research

What You Will Achieve

As a Scientist in the oncology research unit (ORU) organization, you will be at the center of our operations, driving our commitment to develop breakthrough therapies. You will be part of a team addressing the critical task of supporting research of Oncology programs entering the candidate stage and proceeding into the clinic.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to team goals by influencing at the work group/project team level.
  • Apply technical skills, scientific and functional knowledge to projects/assignments within own work group/project team independently and proactively.
  • Perform laboratory experiments to help establish robust disease biology, cell-based compound screening assays across a broad array of target classes for the project teams.
  • Prepare and present experimental results to project teams.
  • Comply with all safety training and good laboratory practices.
Qualifications

We are looking for candidates with a Bachelor's degree in biology, biochemistry, or a related field and 6+ years of relevant experience in the Academic/biotech/pharmaceutical industry. Alternatively, a Master's degree in biology, biochemistry, or a related field and 4+ years of relevant experience in the Academic/biotech/pharmaceutical industry is also acceptable.

Candidates should have a solid understanding of concepts of molecular, cellular, cancer and immune biology, as well as hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture establishment, expansion, and characterization. Experience creating and characterizing genetically modified cell lines using viral vector-based or electroporation/transfection-based techniques is also required.

Additionally, candidates should have experience in cellular and immune cell-based analytics and assay development, including fluorescent microscopy, flow-cytometry/sorting, cell labeling, cell proliferation assays, cytotoxicity assays, and ELISA. The ability to troubleshoot, interpret, and summarize scientific data is essential, as is the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels.
