Lead Seismology Researcher

Overview and Objectives
The selected candidate will spearhead the creation of a framework for immediate seismic risk evaluation, alongside the development of probabilistic techniques for generating seismic event catalogs.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Overseeing a segment of a significant European initiative
  • Crafting elements of a rapid response computing system for seismic events
  • Merging machine learning and neural network applications into current seismological processes
Qualifications
  • Educational Background
    • Doctorate in natural sciences related to seismic activity
    • Bachelor’s degree in scientific disciplines (such as physics, geophysics, mathematics, etc.)
  • Required Expertise and Experience
    • Minimum of 3 years in seismology
    • At least 3 years in geophysical modeling applications
  • Skills
    • Proficiency in English and Spanish
    • Programming expertise in Python and Julia
    • Background in Data Analytics (including machine learning and neural networks)

  • The role will be based at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center within the CASE Department
