We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join our Theory and Simulation Group at the Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ICN2). The successful candidate will contribute to the development of new methodologies and algorithms for the study of electrochemical processes.
Research Area:The Theory and Simulation Group has a strong focus on the development of electronic structure methods and their application in atomistic simulations of molecules and materials. We are particularly interested in the study of electrochemical processes and the development of new materials for energy storage.
Main Responsibilities:- Contribution to the design, implementation, testing, and demonstration of new methodologies and algorithms for the study of electrochemical processes.
- Performing benchmarks in HPC machines in Japan and carrying optimizations to improve performance of the codes.
- Execution of simulations in top HPC facilities, both in Europe and Japan.
- Contribution to the writing of applications to HPC centres (including EuroHPC systems) in order to secure the computational resources needed.
- Travel to Japan for collaboration with our partners in the HANAMI project.
- PhD in Physics, Materials Science, Chemistry, or related disciplines.
- Strong background in DFT-based methods and first-principles electronic structure calculations.
- Programming skills in FORTRAN and experience with user-level high performance computing.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work with highly qualified professionals with international background.
- Full-time work (37.5h/week)
- Temporary contract (2 years)
- Location: Bellaterra (Barcelona)
- Salary will depend on qualifications and demonstrated experience.
