Telefónica Research

Telefónica Research is a leading industrial research laboratory based in Spain. Our mission is to conduct research studies on mid to long-term technological areas of interest to the Telefónica Group. We follow an open research model in collaboration with universities and other research institutions, promoting the dissemination of our work through publications and technology transfer. Our team consists of a multi-disciplinary group with various skills, including systems, networks, HCI, Machine Learning, and Privacy/Security.

Researcher Position

We are seeking a researcher to strengthen and complement our efforts in the areas we currently work on, particularly in the privacy and security of machine learning techniques. The researcher will have the opportunity to propose and develop research ideas individually and jointly with our team, as well as with other Telefónica units.

Main Responsibilities

  • Propose and develop research ideas for advancing the state of the art in their field.
  • Create and lead strong collaborative associations with academic institutions, industrial partners, customers, and government agencies.
  • Disseminate research results via publications and demonstrations in major academic and industrial venues worldwide.
  • Generate Intellectual Property for Telefónica research team and other units.
  • Seek partnerships with business units to ensure the successful exploitation of research outputs.
  • Supervise intern students, collaborate openly with other researchers, and other Telefónica members.
  • Pursue funding opportunities for personnel and/or equipment and/or research visits, via proposal writing and submission for National and/or European and/or International competitive grants.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science, Telecommunication, Privacy/Security, Networking, or any related fields.
  • Proven track of strong research output (e.g., publications to top venues).
  • Strong verbal, visual, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative and interdisciplinary environment.
  • Ability to communicate their ideas and results effectively and concisely.

Technical Knowledge

  • Strong knowledge and experience in research in the area of security and privacy of machine learning systems.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in research with tools (e.g., methodologies, software, testbeds, models, etc.) related to the above areas.
