We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Artist to join our team at 2K. As a Technical Artist, you will be responsible for building and maintaining technologies and art workflows, collaborating with Art and Engineering to drive research and identify new workflows, and solving technical issues related to rigs, animations, and performance capture.
Key Responsibilities- Technical Art Development: Build and maintain technologies and art workflows, including environments, props, characters, shaders, lighting, and rigs.
- Collaboration and Research: Collaborate with Art and Engineering to drive research and identify new workflows, technologies, and streamlined creation processes.
- Technical Problem-Solving: Solve technical issues related to rigs, animations, hair and cloth simulations, and performance capture.
- Workflow Optimization: Contribute to improving naming conventions within assets, tools, and workflows.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate with other technical artists daily to find opportunities for improved workflows and tools.
- Technical Partnership: Partner with the engineering team to ensure build stability and maintain memory and performance budgets.
- Experience: 3+ years in the games, film, or animation industries.
- Programming Skills: Proficiency with C#/C++.
- Maya Skills: Understanding of Maya with significant experience writing animation, rigging, shaders, and UI tools.
- Physics Skills: Experience with cloth and rigid/soft body physics setup for characters, including collision volumes.
- Scripting Skills: Conversant in Python, and familiarity with MEL Script/Maya API experience.
- Software Skills: Experience with Maya, Substance Painter/Designer, Photoshop, Perforce, and Confluence.
- Research and Development: Experience researching, piloting, and rolling out new techniques.
- Platform Knowledge: Interest in gaming platform limitations and advantages.
- Creative Problem-Solving: Ability to turn creative aspirations into achievable realities.
