About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior R&D Packaging Engineer to join our team in the Europe & Australia business segment. As a key member of the Old El Paso and Green Giant R&D Application Team, you will be responsible for driving packaging development projects across innovation, core range renovation, sustainability, and margin management to enable our business to win in the marketplace.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build innovation, holistic margin management, and core growth pipelines for Old El Paso and Green Giant with key cross-functional partners.
  • Lead packaging development projects, creating and executing technical plans, risk assessments, and mitigation plans, and managing timelines.
  • Collaborate with the factory team for the organization and execution of industrial trials, building trial reports and communicating conclusions.
  • Develop and maintain packaging technical specifications, ensuring they are up-to-date and aligned with business needs.
  • Build strong relationships with cross-functional stakeholders, including R&D, Marketing, Sourcing, Supply Chain, and External Partners, to deliver winning packaging solutions.
  • Communicate progress, risks, and changes on active projects to business partners, influencing decisions informed by deep consumer-, technical-, and business understanding.
  • Proactively lead collaboration with cross-functional partners to develop robust packaging pipelines across innovation, renovation, sustainability, and margin management, based on consumer needs and business strategy.
  • Stay abreast of packaging technology developments, regulatory landscape changes, and competitive packaging activity to grow awareness and make informed decisions.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in packaging-, mechanical engineering, or relevant engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 6 years of related experience in packaging roles.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead new packaging ideation, development, and commercialization, interfacing with multiple stakeholders.
  • Good communication and leadership skills.
  • Deep technical knowledge of interactions between product, packaging, and equipment, and ability to apply scientific and engineering principles to deliver new packaging solutions.
  • Experience with quality and regulatory considerations and practices.
  • Structural Package/Creative design ability preferred.
  • Project management skills.
  • Consumer-First thinking; experience with applying design thinking practices.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Solid judgement, effective experimentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.
