Job Summary
The Financial Communications and Media Manager is a key member of the global communications team at SGS, reporting into the Head of Investor Relations, Communications and Sustainability. This role coordinates with various departments, including investor relations, sustainability, corporate communications, marketing, brand, digital, copywriting, and business and operational teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and write press releases targeting a financial audience, showcasing SGS's business narrative and reputation.
- Establish and maintain relationships with influential media in Switzerland and key international markets, focusing on business and economy departments.
- Protect and promote SGS's strategic narrative and reputation in the media through proactive and reactive communications.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the SGS corporate public relations strategy, aligning with business objectives.
- Collaborate with internal departments to gather information supporting SGS's business narrative, ensuring consistency and accuracy.
- Monitor and report on SGS's reputation in the media, in conjunction with the Digital Analytics team, to inform strategic decisions.
- Support other areas of the communications team, as required, including internal communications, editorial & publications, crisis management, event management, and investor relations.
Requirements
- Essential Skills and Qualities
- Strong writing skills in English, with the ability to combine synthetic, analytical, and strategic messaging.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate impactful written and verbal reactions and representations on behalf of SGS.
- Strategic thinking and understanding of complex industries and target audiences.
- Ability to learn quickly, generate innovative ideas, and implement them effectively.
- Dynamic, influential, and excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with flexibility and autonomy.
- Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, communications, or a related field.
- 5-10+ years of experience in financial communications, corporate communications, or business media.
- Proven experience in writing financial and corporate press releases.
- Established network of Swiss and international media contacts, including journalists specializing in business and economy.
- Native or bilingual proficiency in English, with professional working proficiency in German, and fluent French is a plus.
- Experience working in an international environment and understanding complex organizations.
