Our First Product: SimpliFID

SimpliFID is an Aerodrome Flight Information Service (AFIS) that offers a comprehensive range of functionalities at a fraction of the costs of traditional radar systems. Built using Rust, Python, and TypeScript, it sources data from ADB-S and Mode-S Secondary Surveillance Radar (SSR) systems over Asterix CAT021 Surveillance Data Exchange protocol and delivers it to users with near-zero latency. Our focus is on scalability, security, and the development of additional products in the real-time data services for aviation.

Job Summary

We are seeking an exceptional TypeScript and React Software Engineer to join our engineering team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and improving DataBeacon's frontend applications. You will work closely with a small and highly motivated team of engineers to drive technical decisions and contribute to the company's roadmap.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain high-quality frontend applications using TypeScript and React
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to drive technical decisions and contribute to the company's roadmap
  • Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and trends in the industry
  • Contribute to the development of new features and products

Requirements

  • At least 3+ years of professional experience building reliable software applications
  • Mastery of TypeScript, React, and a client-state management library (e.g., Redux)
  • Good command of English and excellent communication skills
  • Located in Madrid or surrounding areas

Nice to Have

  • Professional experience using MapBox or MapLibre
  • Experience using Web Sockets and/or Server-Side Events
  • Motivation for learning Rust and Web Assembly
  • Familiarity with containerized distributed applications deployed in AWS
  • Experience building critical software applications in highly regulated sectors
  • Affinity for aviation in general
