**About the Role**

We are seeking a highly skilled ESG Sustainability Expert to join our team at Merck. As a key member of our Procurement team, you will play a vital role in driving our company's sustainability initiatives and ensuring compliance with relevant environmental regulations.

**Key Responsibilities**

  • Develop and implement strategies to improve our performance in various ESG topics, including biodiversity protection, conflict minerals, human rights, water and waste management, and circular economy.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate environmental and social risks in our supply chain.
  • Contribute to the development of our sustainability reporting framework and ensure compliance with relevant standards, such as ESRS and CSRD.
  • Collaborate with external partners, including consultants, to identify and implement best practices in sustainability.
  • Analyze and interpret large datasets to inform business decisions and drive sustainability initiatives.

**Requirements**

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field, such as environmental science, engineering, business, or law.
  • Proficiency in relevant sustainability regulations, including the German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act and EU Packaging Directive.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working on ESG frameworks and sustainability reporting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively.
  • Experience with digital tools and solutions for supply chain mapping and risk assessment.
