Job SummaryWe're seeking a highly skilled Product Development Specialist - Chemistry to lead the design, development, and execution of innovative, first-to-market products that exceed customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities- Drive the formulation design of new plant-based products through in-depth chemistry scientific knowledge.
- Function as a chemistry expert and advisor within the Product Development team, providing guidance on key formulation criteria such as flavoring and color system design, ingredient interactions, stability, and shelf life.
- Manage R&D projects from initial prototyping to implementation in the market, collaborating with the PMO and Marketing teams.
- Conduct technical feasibility studies, define DOE, and carry out bench-scale experiments.
- Lead pilot plant trials and industrial trials, create and maintain specifications, and define and conduct stability and shelf life tests.
- Communicate progress against the project plan and leverage internal expertise and external networks when needed.
- Translate insights into technical briefs in partnership with marketing and sales teams, based on solid consumer foundation and customer needs.
- Actively contribute to the product pipeline development through an in-depth scientific understanding of ingredients functionality and technologies.
- Manage, coach, and develop direct reports and junior R&D Team members.
- Represent R&D in cross-functional Project meetings and ensure that all project work is within the governance of our internal system.
- Complete proper Knowledge Management throughout the project lifecycle and maintain all documents and records for IP protection.
- Care about our mission and see it as a personal problem to be solved professionally.
- Have a Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline with a strong fundamental Chemistry background.
- Have 7+ years of experience working in Food Product Development or Technology development with diverse industry experience, ideally in the field of plant-based, increasing responsibilities and complexity.
- Experience working with external manufacturers and partners is a benefit.
- Fluency in the English language is a must.
- Ability to thrive in a diverse, dynamic team.
- Self-starter who is naturally curious and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to continuously challenge assumptions to seek innovative solutions.
