Job Overview
The Vice President Medical Strategy and Head of the Hematology / Oncology Center of Excellence is responsible for providing strategic medical and scientific leadership to IQVIA and its clients in Hematology and Oncology.
The primary objective is to grow IQVIA's market share in hematology and oncology by developing and implementing effective strategies.
The role involves participating in and leading a team of hematologists and oncologists who will engage with potential customers, develop proposals in response to Requests for Proposal (RFPs), participate in client proposal bid defense meetings, and provide subject matter expertise throughout the research and development lifecycle and the duration of clinical trials.
The team will also provide independent customer solutions and collaborate across the organization to ensure that all of IQVIA's resources are fully leveraged in opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the strategic direction of the Hematology and Oncology Center of Excellence.
- Oversee the development of strategic proposals in conjunction with leaders of other functions.
- Act as a consultant to team members throughout the research and development lifecycle and the duration of clinical trials.
- Review business plans for the Center of Excellence to create sustainable business growth and make recommendations to the enterprise.
Requirements
- A medical degree (MD, DO or equivalent) from an accredited and internationally recognized medical school with subspecialty training in some area of hematology or oncology, with at least 5 years of demonstrable experience and expertise in the relevant therapeutic area within the biopharmaceutical industry.
- Requires a minimum of ten years of prior relevant experience, with at least five years of experience outside of the training period within the biopharmaceutical industry either directly or indirectly.
- Preferred experience in Contract Research Organizations (CROs).
- Requires advanced business knowledge, general management, and leadership capability to lead business or functional teams.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, managers, and clients.
- Excellent skills in providing consultation and advice on multiple assignments are required, as well as initiative and flexibility.
- Must be able to travel nationally and internationally, approximately 20% of the time, which may be same day or overnight.
