Job Title: Instrumentation Engineer

Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Instrumentation Engineer to join our team in Cartagena, Spain. The successful candidate will support the E&I department on assigned projects, performing calculations, reviewing vendor equipment documentation, and developing estimates and reports.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform and check calculations for simple equipment and solve problems of basic to moderate engineering complexity.
  • Review vendor equipment documentation for compliance with project requirements and actively seek discrepancy resolution.
  • Develop estimates, schedules, progress reports, and key quantity tracking reports.
  • Identify deviations in job scope, estimate magnitude of changes, and initiate trends or change orders.
  • Support estimate activities and interface with project disciplines and client representatives.
  • Develop and build client relations promoting Client Service Excellence.
  • Participate in activities associated with equipment and material procurement, permitting, and subcontracting.
  • Assist in the review of vendor lists, preparation of quotation requests, bid tabulations, purchase orders, and considerations for substitutions for technical acceptability.
  • Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with organization and/or project objectives and guidelines.
  • Organize and prioritize a variety of projects and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Plan and organize own work assignments, as well as carry out tasks from management staff.
  • Prepare/review scopes of work for third-party contracts.
  • Perform control systems sizing calculations for control valves, relief valves, flow elements, thermowells, and other instrumentation.
  • Create instrument index, datasheets, and generate reports in Intergraph SmartPlant Instrumentation database.
  • Develop control systems narrative specifications.
  • Acquire basic knowledge to develop control systems logic diagrams and/or cause and effect diagrams.
  • Develop control systems estimates and report on control systems progress.
  • Develop specifications and design of Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), and Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) hardware and software applications and implementation in software configuration.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor or equivalent in engineering field.
  • 5-10 years of relevant working experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in Spanish.
  • Intermediate knowledge of specifying instrumentation, control systems procurement activities, piping and instrumentation diagram (P&ID) representation, and basic knowledge to develop control strategies and represent on P&ID.
  • Advanced level of INTOOLS and/or PRODOK.
  • Available immediately (Cartagena).
  • Valid European Work Permit.
