Position Overview
As the Construction Project Leader at Amazon Spain Services, S.L.U., you will play a pivotal role in the construction process, ensuring a customer-centric approach throughout.

Your responsibilities will encompass the execution of facility network infrastructure, which includes sortation centers, delivery stations, and supporting auxiliary buildings.

The projects you will oversee involve new constructions, renovations, and expansions.


Your role requires conducting thorough reviews of project budgets and timelines to pinpoint and address any inconsistencies, including contractor proposals.


Collaboration is key; you will work closely with both internal teams and external partners to build trust and achieve shared objectives.

Effective communication with all stakeholders is essential to ensure that information flows smoothly and promptly.


Key Competencies: This position demands a commitment to excellence, ensuring that contracted teams meet quality and time expectations, mentoring developers and contractors throughout the project lifecycle, and continuously seeking innovative solutions to enhance customer satisfaction. You will also be responsible for holding internal stakeholders accountable and ensuring adherence to schedules and budgets while managing multiple projects across various locations.

This role integrates aspects of construction, engineering, planning, project management, facilities oversight, and contract administration.


Travel Opportunities: This position is based in Spain, with approximately 50% of your time dedicated to travel within the country and to other EMEA regions.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the implementation and adherence to Amazon's safety protocols across the project team.
  • Manage several mid to large-scale projects concurrently.
  • Ensure that contract labor possesses the necessary skills to execute their tasks effectively.
  • Operate autonomously within your designated region, engaging with leadership and stakeholders to address challenges.
  • Serve as an internal construction expert, acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the team.
  • Accurately forecast project budgets and timelines, advising stakeholders on the implications of changes.
  • Identify and mitigate factors that could hinder a successful project handover.
  • Coordinate with local authorities to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Maintain comprehensive and timely communication with all stakeholders.

In this role, you will embody ownership at Amazon, ensuring the safe, timely, and budget-conscious execution of construction projects.


Daily Activities May Include:
  • Site management: coordinating with contractors regarding project updates and changes.
  • Ensuring contractors fulfill their contractual obligations.
  • Seeking sustainable and environmentally friendly solutions throughout the construction process.
  • Utilizing Amazon's information systems to track and update project schedules, budgets, and developments.
  • Negotiating contract terms with vendors while driving partners to meet or exceed agreed-upon timelines and budgets.
  • Participating in weekly meetings with architects, owners, and contractors to discuss root causes and corrective actions.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Fluency in Spanish.
  • Experience as an Engineer or Construction Manager in one or more EU countries.
  • Familiarity with at least two disciplines within the construction industry, such as General Contracting, Owner's Representation, or Engineering & Design.
  • Project Management experience.
  • Experience in negotiating construction, procurement, and labor contracts.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Engineering or Construction Management.
  • Experience as a Facilities Manager or similar role.
  • Proven capability in planning, design review, implementation, and project management of new structures and enhancements to existing facilities.
  • Proficiency in additional languages such as German, French, Polish, Arabic, or Turkish is advantageous.
