Satellite Operations Technician

At Akima, we are seeking a highly skilled Satellite Operations Technician to join our team at Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory. As a key member of our Satellite Control Network Operations team, you will be responsible for executing actions necessary to conduct satellite operations and maintenance required to sustain the operability of communications-electronics equipment located at the Remote Tracking Stations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Configure, operate, and maintain assigned systems during satellite support, test, and maintenance activities.
  • Initiate, direct, and verify completion of all operational events during the acquisition, tracking, and commanding functions of each operational support.
  • Perform Senior Contract Representative (SCR) duties as required.
  • Maintain cognizance of station equipment status.
  • Perform COMSEC duties as required.
  • Assist with repairs and alignment of equipment IAW TOs/TMs or commercial manuals.
  • Assist with Preventive Maintenance Inspection (PMI) activities.
  • Maintain vehicle folders.
  • Prepare daily activity log entries in appropriate electronic systems.
  • Perform all required systems administration on mission-related equipment.
  • May assist in providing on-the-job training to trainees as assigned or directed.
Qualifications:
  • Active SECRET security clearance, or higher.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Preferred associate degree in Electronics, or equivalent experience.
  • Must be able to climb high ladders, work on elevated platforms, and antennas.
  • Must be able to perform strenuous physical work to include walking, lifting, pulling loads, bending, kneeling, sitting, and reaching overhead.
  • Must possess strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Must be able to read, write, and clearly speak English.
  • Must be familiar with the use of and be able to operate electronic test equipment to include multimeters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, frequency counters, signal generators, power meters, and data analyzers.
