Job Description

We are seeking a Lead Game Engineer (f/m/d) to join our team and help drive the technical vision and execution for our ambitious MMO project. As a Lead Game Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the design and development of major game systems written in C# and built on a foundation of distributed systems and ECS architecture.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and development of major game systems, ensuring high-quality code and effective team collaboration.
  • Mentor and manage a team of engineers, fostering their technical and professional growth, and providing candid feedback on their performance and areas for improvement.
  • Develop and oversee the technical strategy of your team, balancing effort with impact, evaluating technological solutions to align with project and business goals, and making tradeoffs between development speed, technical debt, and feature completeness.
  • Collaborate with colleagues from various disciplines, including production, product, game design, UI/UX design, and art, in cross-functional teams, and fellow engineering leaders across the organization.
  • Enhance our live operations capabilities by ensuring the game's stability, performance, and continuous improvement post-launch.
  • Champion best practices, and guide the team in monitoring, incident handling, and optimizing live game performance.
Requirements
  • 7+ years of professional programming experience with C#, C++, or Java.
  • Proven experience in a technical leadership role, with a track record of mentoring and managing engineering teams.
  • Proven ability to lead project planning sessions, set realistic timelines, and balance technical debt with feature development.
  • Deep understanding of modern game engines, backend systems, and ECS architecture.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate and optimize complex systems.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a focus on stakeholder management.
