As a Lead Internal Audit Specialist, you will be instrumental in defining the strategies and methodologies for executing audits and advisory initiatives within Ferrovial's international operations. This role involves close collaboration with the audit team and management to assess operational, financial, and managerial elements, providing insights to improve business processes and strengthen internal controls to minimize risks.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and identify risks and controls across diverse Ferrovial sectors and corporate divisions.
- Assist the Project Lead in planning audit projects, offering innovative ideas, and contributing to the establishment of feasible timelines.
- Design and execute audit programs, analyze results, draft conclusion reports, and recommend enhancements for processes and risk management.
- Regularly review internal documentation such as business strategies and budgets to ensure adherence to established standards and regulations.
- Assess the design and efficacy of internal controls for designated audit areas to support compliance with SOX regulations.
- Deliver audit findings to the Senior Leadership Team and Audit Committee, highlighting identified risks, process deficiencies, and suggestions for reinforcing internal controls.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with staff and management to uncover weaknesses and collaboratively develop solutions while maintaining independence.
- Encourage a culture of continuous improvement by contributing to the advancement of internal audit methodologies and digital transformation initiatives.
- Collaborate with colleagues to exchange best practices, promoting a high-performing Internal Audit team and focusing on personal growth.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related discipline is required.
- At least 5 years of experience in internal/external auditing, internal controls, or financial analysis, ideally with experience in a Big Four accounting firm.
- Fluency in English (C1) and Spanish, both written and verbal.
- In-depth knowledge of internal controls and auditing standards, including risk/control frameworks and financial regulations (IFRS/US GAAP and SOX/SCIIF).
- Strong business insight with a comprehensive understanding of practices in sectors such as infrastructure, construction, energy, or aviation.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to lead discussions and engage with individuals at all organizational levels with tact.
- Exhibited integrity, critical thinking, multitasking capabilities, and a collaborative team spirit.
- Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time.
