Job Overview

The Data Privacy Legal Assistant will be an integral part of Visa's Global Privacy Office, reporting directly to the Senior Counsel. This role will encompass responsibilities across the European region, contributing to both strategic and operational initiatives that drive Visa's growth and innovation. You will provide essential privacy support to meet the requirements of both internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive legal research on various topics, delivering clear and concise updates and guidance.
  • Assist in Visa's management of data subject access requests, applying relevant legal principles.
  • Carry out data privacy evaluations for significant Visa suppliers and maintain necessary legal documentation.
  • Oversee the administration and management of data privacy-related registrations and other critical functions.
  • Support attorneys in the Global Privacy Office, including the European Data Protection Officer, on intricate legal inquiries and strategic objectives.
  • Collaborate with the broader Global Privacy Office and Legal, Regulatory, and Compliance teams to identify synergies and enhance efficiencies.
  • Engage with other departments as needed, including supplier management.

Work Environment:
This is a hybrid role, allowing employees to alternate between remote work and office presence. Employees in hybrid positions are expected to work from the office a set number of days each week, based on business needs.

Qualifications:

Essential Qualifications:

  • Possess a university law degree.
  • Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment as well as independently.
  • Possess strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage a diverse workload.
  • Maintain a positive attitude, high integrity, and intellectual curiosity, demonstrating a willingness to learn and take on additional responsibilities.
  • Fluency in English is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a reputable law firm or in-house legal setting.
  • Prior experience in data privacy.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and enthusiasm for the fintech and payments sector.
  • Data privacy certifications (e.g., International Association of Privacy Professionals CIPP/E) are considered advantageous.
  • Proficiency in additional European languages is a plus.
