Overview and Objectives
This Post-Doc position provides an opportunity to engage in a cutting-edge research initiative led by the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) aimed at enhancing the field of battery technology and promoting sustainable energy solutions. BSC, a prominent research entity in Spain, focuses on developing innovative technological applications for a sustainable future. The project emphasizes high-fidelity simulations and artificial intelligence methodologies to deepen the understanding of battery systems characterized by complex multiphysics interactions. The numerical insights generated will inform the design and testing of prototypes, ultimately enhancing performance and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement AI-driven strategies for battery management systems.
  • Conduct data analysis in relation to digital twin technologies.
  • Investigate physics-informed methodologies utilizing machine learning and reduced-order modeling.
  • Integrate with high-performance computing (HPC) solvers.
  • Refine the precision and efficiency of AI techniques to meet project objectives.
  • Participate actively in project discussions and meetings.
  • Validate computational outcomes against experimental findings.
  • Collaborate with fellow researchers and project stakeholders.

Qualifications
  • Educational Background
    • A degree in computational mechanics, applied mathematics, or a related field.
    • Mandatory foundational knowledge in artificial intelligence, particularly machine learning.
    • Appreciation for computational mechanics is advantageous.
  • Essential Skills and Experience
    • In-depth understanding of various machine learning paradigms (supervised, semi-supervised, unsupervised, and reinforcement learning).
    • Proficient in advanced data structures, including neural networks and ensemble models.
    • A minimum of 2-4 years of experience in data engineering roles.
    • Strong programming capabilities in Python.
    • Familiarity with popular machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch).
  • Additional Skills
    • Competence in other programming languages (Fortran, C, C++, Julia) is a plus.
    • Knowledge of reinforcement learning libraries (e.g., Rllib, TFAgents) is beneficial.
  • Competencies
    • Exceptional analytical abilities.
    • Fluency in English.
    • Capacity to work autonomously as well as collaboratively.
    • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Working Conditions
  • The position is based at BSC within the CASE Department.
  • We offer a full-time contract in a stimulating work environment with state-of-the-art facilities, flexible hours, comprehensive training programs, meal vouchers, private health insurance, and relocation support.
  • Contract duration is open-ended, contingent on project requirements and budget availability.
  • Employees are entitled to 23 paid vacation days, plus additional days as per collective agreements.
