About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Energy Economist to join our team within the Energy business. As a key member of our economics team, you will be responsible for managing and contributing to projects involving economic and financial issues on energy matters globally.

Key Responsibilities
  • Energy System Master Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive energy system master plans, including electricity generation and integrated resource planning (IRP).
  • Techno-Economic Analysis: Conduct techno-economic assessments of energy supply, flexibility, and utilization options, including levelized cost analysis of energy systems and services.
  • Hydrogen Economy and Decarbonization: Evaluate the techno-economics of hydrogen and decarbonization options, including their potential impacts on energy markets and policy.
  • Energy Demand Forecasting: Develop and apply energy demand forecasting models using both top-down (econometric) and bottom-up approaches.
  • Policy and Regulatory Analysis: Analyze the impacts of energy policy and regulations on markets and techno-economics, providing recommendations for clients.
  • Report Preparation and Presentation: Create and present high-quality reports to clients, summarizing project findings and recommendations.
  • Tender Preparation: Assist in responding to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Requests for Expressions of Interest (RFIs), ensuring that our proposals meet client needs and expectations.
Requirements
  • A Master's degree in economics or a related field with a quantitative emphasis.
  • Experience in energy markets, with a strong track record in modeling and quantitative analysis.
  • High IT literacy and numeracy skills, with experience using spreadsheet models, complex models, and proprietary software.
  • Experience as a consultant, with overseas assignments being an advantage.
  • A strong understanding of electricity market/dispatch modeling, least cost expansion studies, demand forecasting, Monte Carlo simulation, statistical packages, optimization principles, Integrated Resource Planning (IRP), generation planning, and tariff analysis.
