Position Overview:

We are looking for a meticulous and committed Accounting Specialist to enhance our finance team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the accurate execution of corporate accounting functions, including transactions, entries, reporting, and maintenance for VW Credit and its subsidiaries. Adherence to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and the VW Group Accounting Handbook is essential to support year-end financial processes and comply with both internal and external audit requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Preparing monthly financial statements for VCI and its subsidiaries in accordance with IFRS, along with managing related month-end activities.
  • Compiling monthly consolidated financial statements and necessary disclosures for submission to headquarters.
  • Conducting monthly financial reporting related to impairment for the Risk Department.
  • Performing monthly reconciliations, investigating, and resolving outstanding issues with other departments.
  • Drafting year-end statutory financial statements, including footnotes and disclosures.

Analytical Duties:

We expect you to analyze:

  • Monthly performance metrics and significant variances, providing insights to headquarters for any inquiries.
  • New accounting standards as they apply.
  • Financial statements, reporting on variances, and resolving outstanding issues with other departments.
  • Major deviations from budget or forecast in collaboration with the Controlling Department.

Support and Collaboration:

Assistance and support will be required in:

  • Developing and maintaining financial control procedures for reporting under IFRS guidelines.
  • Facilitating internal and external audits concerning control testing, account verifications, and related projects.
  • Supporting the manager and team members with various ad hoc projects.

Additional Responsibilities:

Other duties include:

  • Recommending and maintaining the general ledger chart of accounts and cost centers to ensure proper transaction disclosure.
  • Proposing enhancements to processes and procedures.

Qualifications:

Required Experience:

5-7 years of professional experience in:

  • Financial analysis.
  • Financial reporting.
  • Financial services or consumer finance.

Education:

Required: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.

Desired: Master's Degree in Accounting or Finance.

General Skills:

  • Strong analytical and conceptual thinking abilities.
  • Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and apply new knowledge.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Highly proficient in MS Excel and Word, with advanced knowledge of Excel functionalities.

Specialized Skills:

Required:

  • Knowledge of captive insurance accounting and relevant regulations.

Preferred:

  • Expertise in accounting for Vehicle Service Contracts and related products.
  • Understanding of IFRS and financial reporting principles.
  • Experience with internal controls and accounting policy development.

Work Flexibility:

  • Minimal travel may be required.
  • Extended hours may be necessary during month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing periods.
