About the Position

The Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) is seeking a highly skilled Research Engineer to join our team in the development of Edge AI systems. As a key member of our research group, you will be responsible for designing and implementing AI solutions for safety-critical systems on the edge.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop functional and timing models for Edge-AI systems on reference middleware frameworks.
  • Identify and explore opportunities for optimization of AI-models, platform, and middleware configurations to meet performance requirements.
  • Develop software-level diagnostic and monitoring approaches based on metrics.
  • Deploy devised solutions on industrially representative Edge-AI setups.
  • Lead a small team of junior engineers and students contributing to these tasks.
Requirements
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Architecture, Mathematics, or similar.
  • PhD in the area (or being in the last year of the PhD).
  • Basic knowledge of AI fundamentals.
  • Practical experience in generic programming (C, C++, etc.).
  • Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python).
  • Experience in collaborative projects.
Desirable Skills
  • Minimal experience with Linux-based environment.
  • Previous experience in the analysis of timing behavior and other non-functional aspects of execution.
  • Experience in hands-on activity with hardware platform.
