OBJECTIVE

EDP Renewables stands as a prominent entity in the renewable energy landscape, recognized as the fourth largest producer globally. With a substantial development portfolio and exceptional operational capabilities, EDPR has experienced remarkable growth and currently operates in 28 international markets.

As the fourth largest producer of renewable energy based on installed capacity, EDPR aims to persist in expanding its project development and construction efforts worldwide.

To support this growth trajectory, a meticulously crafted Solar procurement strategy is essential. Consequently, EDPR is initiating a strategic global sourcing initiative led by the Global Procurement team, focusing on establishing enduring partnerships with top-tier suppliers of Solar equipment, including PV Modules, Inverters, and Trackers.

The Global Procurement Solar Associate will be instrumental in the formulation and implementation of this ambitious strategy, concentrating on the long-term global sourcing of essential Solar equipment.

This role involves assisting the Solar Procurement Manager with various initiatives and procurement activities across designated regions. Responsibilities will encompass supporting and executing comprehensive tender processes and negotiations, as well as engaging in cross-functional tasks such as defining and implementing processes and building strategic information databases.

The Global Procurement Solar Associate will foster a sustainable competitive edge for the organization, maximizing value through the development of extensive relationships with suppliers, relevant market stakeholders, and internal departments within EDP.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Procurement Strategy
  • Support the Solar Procurement Manager in all strategic initiatives aimed at establishing long-term supplier partnerships.
  1. Procurement Processes
  • Oversee the execution of RFIs, RFPs/RFQs, and any necessary bidding processes to assess product options and select appropriate suppliers for various projects.
  • Manage negotiations concerning Solar supply agreements, including Global Frame Agreements and Warranty/O&M contracts, collaborating with other EDP departments as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with EDP's internal approval processes and guidelines.
Relationship Management
  • Develop a robust network with all stakeholders in the solar industry that influence EDP's Solar business, including current and potential suppliers.
  • Facilitate cross-functional interactions with other EDP departments, playing a crucial role in:
  1. Legal: Collaborate closely to ensure alignment on contractual agreements and develop standardized processes for contracting.
  2. Business Development: Share insights on solar technology advancements and engage regularly on project development to shape the Solar sourcing strategy.
  3. Technology: Monitor and evaluate emerging solar technologies, conduct Technical Due Diligence on new suppliers, and provide guidance on technical aspects and trends.
  4. Construction: Act as a liaison for supply agreements, support ongoing issues during project execution, and provide feedback on supplier performance.
  5. Operations & Asset Management: Gather insights on supplier performance and address key issues for improved contract management.
  6. M&A: Assist in financial modeling, obtaining detailed LCOEs, and support in closing M&A deals related to Solar.
  7. Origination: Maintain regular communication to understand the status of Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) or Build Transfer Agreement (BTAs).
  8. Finance: Collaborate on CAPEX modeling, optimization, and payment method alignment.
  9. Risk: Provide information on counterparty risks associated with Solar suppliers and relevant market trends.
  10. Energy Assessment: Evaluate solar plant production.
  11. Tax & Accounting: Address sales/use tax mitigation, duties, tariffs, and INCOTERMS.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Educational Background

A University Degree, preferably in technical or business financial disciplines.

  1. Professional Experience
  • 2-3+ years of relevant experience in the Solar Industry, ideally in Procurement or Commercial roles.
  • Proven experience in supply contract negotiation and management, including contract models and industry terms.
  • Experience with strategic equipment procurement tenders and competitive market analysis.
  • Ability to develop and maintain business relationships effectively.
