Landscaping Technician

Position : Groundworker
Employment Type : Full-Time/Non-Exempt
Supervisor : Crew Leader/General Foreperson

Key Responsibilities :

• Operates a chainsaw to trim brush, logs, and stumps from larger trees, working from ground level with gasoline-powered equipment.
• Loads and unloads vehicles with logs, stumps, brush, and debris, and feeds materials into a wood chipper, while gathering brush for transport to the chipper area.
• Works in proximity to hazardous machinery.
• Endures high noise levels from machinery, chainsaws, and wood chippers, necessitating the use of appropriate personal protective equipment.
• Faces varying weather conditions and temperatures; encounters natural elements, including irritating plants and insects.
• May navigate rough and uneven terrain.
• Assists in enforcing safety protocols on-site for fellow crew members.
• Ensures the safety of employees and the public by managing hazards in the work area, coordinating with local authorities when necessary, and setting up protective barriers and warning signs.
• Applies herbicides and growth regulators to stumps and brush as needed.
• Operates a truck equipped with a brush chipper or other trailing units.
• Maintains a clean and organized work environment.
• Sets up tools and equipment at job sites.
• Services vehicles, chippers, and equipment, ensuring they are kept in good working order and reporting maintenance needs to the crew leader.
• Performs additional related tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications :

• Must be capable of wearing necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
• Ability to enter and exit a vehicle multiple times throughout the day.
• Must be able to work in various weather conditions, including rain, heat, cold, and snow.
• Proficient in reading, writing, and understanding written and verbal instructions.
• Must communicate effectively and represent Wright Tree Service professionally.
• Capable of lifting and moving up to 50 pounds occasionally and up to 30 pounds frequently.
• Willingness to work extended hours and overtime during emergencies, including weekends and holidays, and be available for call-outs.
• Competent in operating and maintaining all necessary tools and equipment.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and pass a pre-employment drug screening.
• Required to maintain a herbicide applicator or operator certification and license as mandated by Wright Tree Service and applicable laws.
• Must hold valid First-Aid and CPR certifications.
