About the Role

The Renewable Energy Risk Engineering team at Swiss Re is seeking an experienced engineer to provide technical support for our renewable energy business. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for further developing and maintaining knowledge about renewable energy technologies to support our underwriting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain technical knowledge related to renewable energy technologies, including wind energy, solar energy, and other types of renewable energy.
  • Act as a consultant to the construction/engineering, property, and specialty underwriting community, providing technical support and expertise.
  • Contribute to construction and property underwriting with your knowledge and expertise, including costing, risk selection, claims analysis, and risk-related topics.
  • Maintain and actively build up technical knowledge related to marine operations, including installation of cables, foundations, and substations.
  • Provide educational trainings to internal and external partners, promoting Swiss Re as a leading renewable insurance carrier.

About the Team

The Reinsurance Risk Engineering Services (RES) team is a global expert team responsible for providing technical support to property, engineering, and specialty business. Our team is dedicated to advising our underwriters on risk quality, loss estimates, capacity allocation, and loss prevention measures for large accounts and single risks.

About You

We are looking for an individual with profound expertise and experience in the wind offshore and onshore energy business, preferably with knowledge in insurance risk engineering. You should have a genuine intellectual curiosity and interest in expanding your knowledge in other renewable industries and risk-related topics.

Requirements

  • Profound knowledge in hazard identification and risk management topics in the industry.
  • Knowledge of industry-relevant internationally recognized standards in design/loss prevention/fire protection.
  • Master's degree in civil or marine engineering.
  • Preferably experience in insurance risk engineering or claims and knowledge of underwriting processes.
