About the Role

Back Market is seeking a highly skilled Staff Mobile Engineer to play a pivotal role in driving our strategic app-first approach. As a key member of our mobile engineering team, you will be responsible for aligning, designing, and driving the architectural vision for our mobile platforms and app features.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the delivery of high-quality iOS and Android code, setting benchmarks for excellence and scalability.
  • Elevate the development of advanced app-first features, emphasizing innovation, bridges, and expertise within the mobile engineering community.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to foster a culture of technical excellence and shared knowledge.
  • Take ownership of significant technical projects, managing dependencies and realizing the engineering and product visions.
  • Drive user experience forward by partnering with Product Managers, Designers, and implementing intuitive UI animations, transitions, and accessibility features.
  • Architect robust and efficient code patterns, leveraging the latest iOS and Android technologies, while maintaining a commitment to app architecture principles.
  • Advocate for efficient testing methodologies, ensuring the highest quality and reliability of features developed.
  • Monitor app performance, utilizing tools like Datadog and Crashlytics, and implement strategies to prevent regressions.
Requirements
  • 7+ years of relevant and broad mobile engineering experience.
  • Strong technical leadership with multiple teams, ability to build and drive mobile engineering vision and excellence.
  • Technical expertise in building and scaling native apps on iOS or Android, with high traffic, weekly features delivery, and resolving complex issues.
  • Experience successfully operating in a multi-module architecture.
  • High knowledge and advocacy of Apple and Google UI guidelines, Swift and Kotlin languages, and mobile platforms' frameworks.
  • Proven track record for mentoring and developing engineers.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information clearly and concisely.
