Founded in 2023, we’re based in Bergen (Norway) and Barcelona (Spain), and backed by some of the world’s most ambitious investors.About the Role:Lace Lithography is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to evolve the core components of our main distributed algorithms. In this role, you will design, build, and optimize the high-performance foundations that enable all our teams to deliver world-class lithography technology.You will collaborate with different teams to support a broad range of computational needs and partner on the design of specific distributed algorithms. Your work will also involve managing HPC workloads, enabling GPU acceleration, and ensuring the scalability, reliability, security, and performance of our mission-critical systems used in research, development, and production.What you’ll do:Core Platform Development:Architect, implement, and maintain company-wide infrastructure for computation, simulations, data processing, and distributed workflows.High-Performance Computing:Build and optimize HPC pipelines for large-scale data processing and simulation workloads.GPU Acceleration:Develop and maintain GPU-based computation modules (CUDA, OpenCL, or similar) for performance-critical workloads.Distributed Algorithm Design:Work alongside algorithm specialists to design and optimize distributed solutions tailored to domain-specific needs.Performance Optimization:Profile and optimize applications, addressing both memory-bound and compute-bound workloads.Cross-Team Collaboration:Partner with multiple teams to integrate algorithms, tools, and workflows into the shared platform.Documentation & Knowledge Sharing:Maintain technical documentation and mentor other engineers in distributed, HPC, and GPU best practices.Who you are:Required:Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.5+ years of professional experience in software engineering with a focus on distributed algorithms or large-scale simulation.Expertise in distributed systems design and implementation.Proficiency in a typed, high-performance language (e.g., Julia, C++, Rust); strong preference for Julia.Hands‑on experience with GPU programming (CUDA, OpenCL, or similar).Proficiency with parallel programming models (MPI, OpenMP, or similar).Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Singularity) and orchestration (Kubernetes, Slurm, or similar).Experience with development tools including Git, profilers, and debuggers.Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across multiple technical teams.Preferred:Experience with large-scale non-linear optimization systems.Expertise in Julia.Previous work in scientific computing or industrial R&D environments.Our team here at Lace:…consists of amazing people who’ve joined us from all over the world, driven by intense curiosity, the urge for exploration, and a desire to push the limits of physics.
