We keep the cloud running by supporting every data centre and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on.AWS is looking for talented people to help solve complex supply‑chain challenges and improve the quality of our infrastructure.Key ResponsibilitiesDrive world‑class quality in the Data Center to achieve the lowest‑cost, highest‑operating infrastructure.Make rapid decisions with limited data based on experience and subject‑matter expertise.Focus on fibre optic and optic components, cabling and interconnect products, technologies and standards; scope may later expand to mechanical and electrical (M&E) components.Collaborate with Engineering to establish Global Design Standards, Global Installation Best Practice Guidelines and detail Product Specifications for Inside Plant Cabling.Develop QA manuals, manage amendments, formulate audit strategies and define quality and operational metrics.Audit and inspect Data Centre & Edge sites, generate punch lists, remediate defects, provide vendor performance recommendations and propose design/process improvements.Conduct training sessions with local Infra Delivery Teams and Infra Ops organizations to ensure compliance with design standards and practices.Maintain responsiveness and communication with technical teams to collect requirements and explain designs.Identify and respond to risks and high‑priority issues rapidly and effectively.Support New Product Implementation activities that reduce cost, improve quality and shorten installation time.Travel locally 40%+ to review projects and coordinate with on‑site personnel and contractors at AWS Data Centres.A Day in the LifeAs part of the AWS Quality Team, you will visit data centres to verify compliance with design standards, collect lessons learned, and continuously improve structured cabling and installation practices. We foster a culture of inclusion, learning, and career growth through mentorship, affinity groups, and flexible work practices.Basic QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Telecommunications or a related field preferred.3+ years’ experience in structured cabling, inside plant (ISP) infrastructure or data centre environments.Knowledge of fibre optic and copper (Cat 5e/6/6A) cabling installation standards.Basic understanding of grounding and bonding requirements (ANSI/TIA, NEC, BICSI).Working knowledge of cable pathway infrastructure.Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, RCPs, BIMs, rack elevations and cable schedules.Proficiency in using inspection tools and documenting technical information.Strong attention to detail, organisational skills and the ability to work in fast‑paced environments.Preferred QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.In‑depth knowledge of ANSI/TIA‑568, 569, 606, 607, ISO/IEC 11801 and NEC Articles 300 & 392.Familiarity with NEMA VE1/VE2 and IEC 61537 for cable tray construction and installation.Experience conducting QA inspections in live data centres with a focus on pathway fill ratios, cable diameter compliance, separation requirements and firestop/fire‑rating compliance.Hands‑on knowledge of fibre splicing, OTDR/OLTS testing equipment, budget‑loss and copper certification testing.Familiarity with data centre best practices (hot/cold aisle containment, overhead vs underfloor cabling strategies).Strong communication skills with ability to interface with contractors, engineers and stakeholders.Amazon is an equal‑opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. The base pay for this position ranges from $67,200/year in our lowest geographic market to $150,300/year in our highest.
