CEMFI invites applications for a 1 or 2 years full‑time Research Assistant position (Pre‑doc). Candidates should have a strong interest in research in applied microeconomics. The work would relate to several research projects in the areas of Energy and Environmental Economics and Industrial Organization carried out at hjælEnergyEcoLab. The position is funded by the European Research Council Advanced Grant ERC‑2023‑ADG Project 101142583 — ENERGY‑IN‑TRANSITION, entitled 'Socio‑Economic Challenges and Opportunities of the Energy Transition,' led by Professor Natalia Fabra, and by the Project financed by the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities CPP2024‑011557. Candidates about to obtain one of these degrees_Modifiers are also eligible. Ideally, candidates should have the intention to work towards a PhD in one of the above disciplines.Excellent management and organizational skills. Meticulous, organized, and detail‑oriented.Strong quantitative skills. Excellent knowledge of Stata or R. Knowledge of Python, web scraping, and text analysis would be an advantage.Flexible, self‑motivating, independent and able to manage multiple tasks efficiently.Proficient in English.Strong interest in academic research.Job conditionsFull‑time position.The job will be based at CEMFI in Madrid/Spain.Duration: 1 year, from September 1st, 2026, to August 31st, 2027, with the possibility of extension for a second year.CEMFI is one of the leading Graduate Schools in Europe.
