Head of Government Relations

As the Head of Government Affairs for the European market, you will serve as the company’s primary liaison with government bodies, policymakers, industry associations, and key regulatory stakeholders across Europe. This role requires a deep understanding of EU and Member State political, regulatory, and legislative developments. You will be responsible for formulating and executing strategies to shape a favorable policy environment for the company’s business growth while effectively managing compliance and political risks.Descubra si esta oportunidad es adecuada para usted leyendo toda la información que sigue a continuación.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement a comprehensive government affairs strategy covering the EU institutions and key Member States (e.g., Germany, France, the Netherlands, Sweden).Identify and analyse policy trends and regulatory risks related to the company’s business areas (e.g., data protection, cybersecurity, environmental regulations for electronic products, consumer rights, tariffs, IoT policy) and provide forward‑looking recommendations to senior management.Proactively establish and maintain constructive relationships with EU institutions (especially the European Commission and the European Parliament), national government ministries, regulatory agencies, and key legislators.Represent the company actively in relevant industry associations, standards development organisations, and think tanks to enhance the company's influence and voice within the sector.Work closely with Legal, Compliance, Product, Marketing, and other internal teams to ensure product design, market activities, and operational processes comply with current and forthcoming European regulations.Provide regular briefings to senior management on policy developments, implications for the business, and recommended responses.Deliver training and advisory support to internal teams on the European political and regulatory landscape.Monitor compliance areas closely related to smart hardware and identify potential risks proactively.Manage emerging negative policy issues and develop mitigation plans to safeguard the company’s reputation and commercial interests.QualificationsBasic Requirements10+ years of experience in government affairs, public policy, or related fields in Europe; experience in EU affairs or Brussels-based roles is highly preferred.Background in technology, consumer electronics, or smart hardware, with solid understanding of IoT, data privacy, and cybersecurity.Bachelor’s degree or above; academic background in Law, Public Policy, International Relations, Political Science, or related disciplines is preferred.Core CompetenciesEstablished Government Network : A well‑developed and reliable network within EU institutions and/or governmental or regulatory bodies in at least one major European country.Outstanding Communication & Influence : Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Chinese; ability to convey complex policy issues clearly and persuasively.
