Data centre Technicians are the primary resolver and troubleshoot and solve a range of data centre infrastructure issues including, but not limited to hardware, fiber, networking, and related problems. If you like to use IT principles like computer architecture and the OSI model and apply them to finding solutions to problems, we’d like to meet you. Your work will help to maintain one of the world’s largest information system infrastructures.Key ResponsibilitiesEngage in physical data centre activities including planning & tracking capacity, rack deployment, rack cabling, hardware and software troubleshooting, and rack decommissioning.Problem SolvingMaintain high system reliability by prioritising and resolving trouble tickets efficiently.Deep dive into Linux server issues.Diagnose XEN service virtualization problems.TechnicalTriage technical issues on various platforms ranging from Systems through to Power/Mechanical.Remediate physical layer outages, both Systems & Network.Remediate or recover physical power issues on racks.Participate in Data centre power & cooling events.OperationsMeet 24x7 On-Call requirements and respond during shift rotations.Install & configure racks of hosts in line with internal SLAs.Triage & resolve trouble tickets for all devices in your region.Serve as Data centre point of contact for all High Severity issues.Physically replace server and network device parts and ensure correct rotation of parts & spares.Enforce Amazon's Security Best Practices.Interact with third party vendors & contractors.Contribute ideas to improve operational efficiency.Project ManagementParticipate in and deliver on a number of high impact small to mid-scale projects.Participate in team meetings for metric analysis and project status updates.Help build the world’s largest Cloud infrastructure.Physical Component: ability to lift & rack equipment up to 20 kg; may require working in cramped spaces or elevated locations while adhering to health & safety guidelines.Cover 24x7 shift rotation.Hold or be able to attain an Australian Government Security Vetting Agency clearance (see ).Basic Qualifications2+ years of experience with server hardware.1+ years of experience with UNIX/Linux operating systems.Server Hardware Troubleshooting experience.Preferred QualificationsBachelor's degree in an IT-related field or equivalent professional or military experience.Hands-on experience with one or more of the following hardware platforms (e.g. Dell, HP) is a plus.Previous experience working in a Data centre environment (racking & stacking gear, cable management, hot & cold aisle containment).Valid driver's license and own vehicle to travel between sites.Acknowledgement of country: In the spirit of reconciliation Amazon acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community.
