IRB Barcelona is hiring a Research Assistant to work in the Asymmetric Synthesis Laboratory.

This call is under the framework of the INVESTIGO Programme for recruitment of young job seekers to carry out research and innovation - Funded by the European Union - NextGenerationEU.

**DUTIES**:

- Synthetize the biologically active compounds needed in the project.
- Purify the drugs.
- Ensure the structure and purity of the compounds.
- Synthetize valuable starting materials.
- Optimize the syntheses and scale up it when needed.Write a detailed report of the work.

**EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS**:
**Must Have - Required**:

- **Experience**: Master’s degree in organic chemistry. Experience in synthetic organic chemsitry
- **Knowledge**: Organic methodology; purification of organic compounds. Crystallization, chromatography. Characterization of organic compounds; NMR;
- **Skills**: Use of NMR, Chem-Draw; Mestre-Nova; use of MPLC purification system

**Desirable**:

- **Experience**: Experience in catalysis, hydrogenation
- **Knowledge**: synthetic methodology, medicinal chemistry
- **Skills**: set-up reactions, scale-up processes. Proficiency in English, Catalan and Spanish

**SELECTION CRITERIA**:

- No previous labour relationships with IRB Barcelona in a period of 6 months before the start of the employment contract.
- Availability to join the IRB Barcelona by the 15th of October 2023.

**WORKING CONDITIONS & ENTITLEMENTS**:

- **Working conditions: Two year contract linked to the INVESTIGO Programme, which allocates young people in search of work in research.** Employed in compliance with Spanish legislation and regulations under a full-time contract. Employees receive the benefits of the Spanish Social Security system covering sickness, maternity/paternity leave and injuries at work.
