As part of the Database Support Team, we are looking for a Senior Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) to engage with the more complex aspects of database management within a fast-moving support environment. The successful applicant would be responsible for optimizing and troubleshooting critical enterprise level database systems to ensure high performance, scalability, security and availability. They would be expected to handle advanced tasks such as performance tuning of complex queries and have a working knowledge of the Oracle Exadata platform. They would also be expected to mentor more junior DBA’s and work with cross-functional teams to support databases efficiently and provide timely resolutions to incidents.
**ABOUT THE JOB**
- Install, configure, and maintain Oracle database software
- Monitor database performance and tune databases for optimal efficiency
- Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability
- Perform regular database maintenance tasks, such as database reorganisations, index rebuilds, disaster recovery testing and patching
- Troubleshoot database-related issues and provide timely resolution
- Implement database security best practices to safeguard sensitive data
- Create and maintain documentation related to database configurations, procedures, and standards
- Stay up-to-date with the latest database technologies and trends
- As a senior work with the TTL (Technology Team Leader) to manage the team’s workload and act as a stand-in during any absences of the TTL
- Be part of a shared, out of hours, on-call rota

**ABOUT YOU**
- Experience with Oracle and Oracle Exadata database technologies with a range of versions
- Database installation & configuration experience
- Significant experience using database backup tools and methodologies
- Configuration of database replication technologies, such as Oracle DataGuard
- Experience working on Exadata, especially performance tuning
- Clustering techniques such as Real Application Clusters (RAC)
- Good understanding of database storage management such as Automatic Storage Management (ASM)
- Significant experience of performance tuning and the use of tuning tools such as Stats Pack, AWR, Tuning Advisors
