- The Barcelona Supercomputing Center - Centro Nacional de Supercomputación (BSC-CNS) is the leading supercomputing center in Spain. It houses MareNostrum, one of the most powerful supercomputers in Europe, was a founding and hosting member of the former European HPC infrastructure PRACE (Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe), and is now hosting entity for EuroHPC JU, the Joint Undertaking that leads large-scale investments and HPC provision in Europe. The mission of BSC is to research, develop and manage information technologies in order to facilitate scientific progress. BSC combines HPC service provision and R&D into both computer and computational science (life, earth and engineering sciences) under one roof, and currently has over 900 staff from 55 countries.

**Context And Mission**
- In our pursuit, we focus on a wide range of key societal research areas such as Population changes and living arrangements, Democratic Quality, Social Media and Information Environment, social ecology, Education and Labor Market, Law technologies, Social Innovation, and History and Cultural Heritage. Employing a mix of complex statistical models, AI/Machine Learning, Large Language Models (LLMs), Agent-Based Modeling (ABM), and Social Network Analysis (SNA), among others, our advanced computational methods are applied to diverse datasets from official statistics, surveys, social media, news, laws, historical archives, current data archives, citizens' volunteered data, government and industry data.
- We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Group Leader to initiate and coordinate a new research unity in Digital Humanities. As a Group Leader, you will play a pivotal role in the creation and guidance of the researchers’ team, conducting cutting-edge research and collaborating with international research groups to advance our understanding of Digital Humanities. You will report to Dr. Mercè Crosas, director of the CSSH department.**Key Duties**
- Lead and coordinate a team of researchers, providing guidance, mentorship and support to achieve research goals.
- Write and submit project proposals of the highest scientific quality to seek competitive financial support at the international and European levels.
- Oversee the planning and execution of research projects, ensuring alignment with the department’s goals.
- Conduct innovative research in the field of Digital Humanities, in particular combining the research on archival texts, archaeology and cultural heritage with AI models. Collaborate with internal and external research groups, consolidating existing interdisciplinary collaborations and forging new alliances to advance the field of Digital Humanities.**Requirements**:

- Education
- PhD in History, Philosophy, Literature or related field.
- Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
- Proven experience leading a research group.
- Proven track record of conducting cutting-edge research in Humanities, as evidenced by publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
- Experience in coordinating and managing research projects, including the supervision of research staff and students
- Excellent track of research and publications on topics related to Humanities (preferably in History)
- Prior experience in grant writing and securing research funding from competitive funding agencies.
- Experience working in interdisciplinary projects, communication with computer scientists and technologists, and combining AI with research in Humanities
- Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience
- Experience in carrying out research in a variety of fields within Humanities, especially in archivistics, historiography and anthropology
- Experience leading historical archives
- Experience working with the local humanities and cultural heritage community
- Competences
- Team management skills, with the ability to motivate team members to achieve the group's research goals.
- Capacity to contribute to research projects with novel research ideas and analysis.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail and a commitment to scientific rigor.
- Excellent communication skills to specialized audiences.
