**Monitoring Engineer**

**Location: Malaga, Madrid or Seville**

**Hybrid (2 days on site)**

**The Background**

We are partnered with an innovative consultancy based in London but with a global presence who are leading advisors in their industry by creating lasting value for their clients. They are currently looking to add a new position to their team and are looking for Monitoring Engineer.

With thousands of servers and millions of daily checks across all data centers and environments, maintaining a high scalable, reliable and automated platform to monitor our systems is our clients to day challenge.

A Monitoring Engineer is essential for maintaining a stable and high performance IT environment, enabling organizations to proactively address issues and deliver a reliable user experience.

As a Monitoring, you will work with engineering to provide statistics and performance indicators to other IT groups with the aim of collectively achieving high availability and uptime of all services through performance trend analysis and the identification of bottlenecks, capacity issues, and other points of concern.

**Requirements**:

- Technical profile with no major gaps in OS level (Linux, Windows server OS)
- Understanding of the importance of monitors, alerting and trend analysis of metrics.
- Experience with Nagios, Zabbix, Icinga, Grafana or Prometheus tools
- Understanding of SEO principles and techniques to optimize website visibility and performance.
- Knowledge of APM, EUM, RUM or synthetic monitoring methodologies
- Experience with tools such as AppDynamics, NewRelic, Dynatrace, Datadog
- Familiarity with OpenTelemetry for collecting and managing distributed traces and metrics.
- Experience with CM tools like Puppet, Ansible or Salt as well as DevOps culture and new deployment methodologies based on containers (docker) and its operation via orchestration with k8s.

- Experience representing KPIs and metrics into dashboards to ease root cause analysis of problems or foresee potential ones detecting trend changes.

**Responsibilities**

**Design and Implementation**:

- Select and configure appropriate monitoring tools and technologies based on the organization's needs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand system requirements and design effective monitoring strategies.

**Infrastructure Monitoring**:

- Develop and maintain monitoring systems for servers, networks, databases, and other critical infrastructure components.
- Configure alerts and notifications to proactively identify and address potential issues.

**Application Monitoring**:

- Identify bottlenecks, optimize performance, and enhance user experience through monitoring insights.

**Log Management**:

- Manage and analyse log data to detect and troubleshoot issues.
- Implement log aggregation and analysis tools to streamline the troubleshooting process.

**Incident Response**:

- Respond to incidents identified through monitoring systems promptly and efficiently.
- Collaborate with operations and development teams to resolve issues and prevent future occurrences.

**Automation and Scripting**:

- Develop automation scripts for the deployment and configuration of monitoring tools.
- Integrate monitoring solutions into existing automation frameworks for seamless operations.

**Documentation**:

- Create and maintain documentation for monitoring configurations, procedures, and best practices.
- Train and support other teams on using monitoring tools effectively.

**Performance Analysis**:

- Conduct performance analysis and capacity planning to ensure scalable and reliable systems.
- Provide recommendations for improvements based on monitoring data and analysis.
