**About the opportunity**

As an Apprentice Carpenter, your main responsibilities include being able to successfully complete the required competencies of CPC30220 Certificate III in Carpentry, positively contributing to the construction and maintenance of residential housing in the Torres Strait Island region to improve the quality of life for residents in the Torres Strait, positively contributing to the construction and maintenance of building infrastructure and assets within the Torres Strait Island Regional Council's area of responsibility to provide safe and usable facilities for employees, visitors, and residents and complying and promoting the Torres Strait Island Regional Council Values, Vision and Mission Statements.

**_ The right person for the role will possess the following_**:

- A strong work ethic and ability to follow instructions.
- Possession of or willingness to obtain a white card - CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry.
- Ability to understand and follow directions and to communicate effectively with team members and internal and external stakeholders.
- Must be keen to learn and show initiative.
