Senior Accounting and Financial Technician

Research at CRM covers a wide spectrum of fields, from the most fundamental areas (algebra/number theory/geometry/topology, analysis and PDEs, combinatorics and dynamical systems) to applied mathematics (in the fields of biomedicine, climate change mitigation and adaptation and natural hazards).

The center is distinguished as a Maria de Maeztu Unit of Excellence by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness (2020 Call) and holds the HRS4R award (Human Resources Strategy for Research; awarded by the European Commission) since 2016. The Unit hosts approximately 80 senior researchers and affiliated researchers from UPC's, UB's and UAB's Mathematics departments. Five of them are ERC Grantees.

Regarding training and exchange of knowledge, the CRM organizes 3-4 intensive research programs every year, welcoming 400 visiting researchers per year on average. Its aim is to connect the Catalan mathematics community with world-class practitioners (about 70% of the participants are international).

**Job Title**: SENIOR ACCOUNTING AND FINANCIAL TECHNICIAN.

**Area or group**: The Administration and Finance Area

**Description of Group/Project**:
The CRM Administration and Finance Area must reinforce with the incorporation of a proactive, responsible, organized and disciplined professional to keep the accounting accounts in accordance with the corresponding legal regulations.

**TASKS & RESPONSABILITIES**:

- Carry out the financial planning and management of the institution, performing the functions of monitoring, controlling and reviewing economic, financial, accounting and fiscal activity, in accordance with the procedures established by the area management.
- Organize the processes, procedures, tasks, and work planning of the team involved in finance tasks and establish the systems to implement them.
- Provide the necessary information and indicators for decision-making.
- Execute monthly and annual closings in compliance with financial regulations and procedures.
- Serve the reporting obligations that the institution is required to in its status as a public institution.
- Identify yours and your team's strengths and areas of improvement.
- Proactively incorporate operational changes that contribute to improving results.

**In addition to the tasks mentioned, the selected person is expected to participate in**:

- General support in administrative tasks of the department
- Complying in time and form with the requirements that come from the Public Agencies
- Maintenance of the physical and digital documentation archive
- Any other task of the department itself.

**REQUIREMENTS**:

- Degree in Economics, Business or similar
- Additional training in accounting, legal and financial matters
- Fiscal knowledge in the public environment
- Catalan and Spanish native languages
- English minimum level B2
- Have advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel is mandatory)

**Work experience**:

- Minimum 3 years of training and applied experience in public accounting.
- Proven experience in accounting and auditing.

**Will be valued**:

- Proven experience using the A3ERP program.
- Complementary studies focused on accounting in the public sector.
- To have previously worked in public sector entities.
- Experience in public research environments will be valued.
