Copy Editor

**Description**

We’re looking for a copy editor to join the editorial team of our fast-growing publishing and information business, based in Barcelona, which serves three fascinating and controversial industries and produces content every day for readers around the world.

Working on a mixture of short-form, tight-deadline news and much longer, often highly complex reports, you will have a minimum of two years’ editing experience in the English language, whether online or in print.

Outstanding numeracy and attention to detail are essential to our coverage, which spans law, politics, business and science.

Reporting directly to the chief sub-editor, you will be a self-starter capable of working on your own as well as collaborating closely with other editors and writers in the Barcelona office.

You will join a young and diverse team in a company approaching its tenth birthday.

**Responsibilities**
- You will work across all of our content types, with a particular focus on news articles.
- You will ensure content posted on our sites is clear, accurate, consistent, well-written and in keeping with the company style guide.
- You will liaise with our content teams to ensure high-quality content.
- While the majority of the job is oriented toward editorial content, you will also regularly review and revise marketing materials and website copy.
- There may be limited opportunities for writing but this is _not _primarily a writing role - our need is for someone experienced in, and committed to, editing.

**Skills**
- English to mother-tongue standard.
- Minimum 2 years’ editing experience.
- Experience in editing news content.
- Working knowledge of WordPress and the ability to adapt quickly to using other platforms, including editing text within databases.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Word and PowerPoint (Excel is a bonus).
- Outstanding attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritise projects and manage your time depending on workload and deadlines.
