**Descripción de la oferta**: King’s College, world-renowned for academic excellence and student leadership, is seeking to appoint a dynamic, inspiring and ambitious professional to the position of Laboratory Technician to join our teaching team on a temporary basis.
The Laboratory Technician is responsible for preparing experiments, solutions and distributing and deliv-ering chemical products necessary for practical experiments. The Technician implements the correct health and safety regulations and ensures the safeguarding procedures for staff and pupils. They are also responsible for dealing with spillages, accidents and the disposal of chemical and toxic waste in a safe and secure way. Duties also involve assisting staff and pupils during experiments and observing that the solu-tions are labelled and stored correctly.
Key responsibilities and Accountabilities:

- Preparation of solutions. This involves calculating the correct amount of solution from the con-centrated liquid. The solution needs to be measured or weighed (depending on their state).
- Preparing experiments as requested by teachers.
- Distributing and delivering chemical products, equipment and materials etc. necessary for theexperiments, using the appropriate transportation trolleys available.
- Checking all labs, making sure the gas and water supplies are closed and that the tables are left ina good condition. Ensuring sockets are well maintained as well as the plastic covering for the elec-tricity supply and the gas pipes.
- Cleaning glass materials, washing all chemically contaminated products with water, soap and anyother product needed for its neutralisation.
- Labelling, classifying and storing prepared solutions for reuse. All solutions need to be stored in abottle (according to its property and risk) and labelled appropriately.
- Preparation of bacteriological cultivation to carry out microbiological practices. Ensuring correctsterilisation processes are maintained.
- Preparing the petri dishes with agar for microbiological practices. Making sure that this is carriedout in a sterile environment.
- Preparing dissections providing tweezers, scissors and scalpels.
- Registering and classifying chemical products received so they can be included in the informationlist for global chemical products in the laboratory. The date of receiving the product is includedand they are stored according to their level toxicity.
- Checking and controlling the available quantities for each chemical product. The various states of the products need to be monitored in case they are not in a good condition.
- Cleaning and mopping up spills which have occurred during these practices in accordance with the guidelines for neutralising chemical products.
- Keeping record of all laboratory equipment.
- Advising staff and students on the correct way to handle materials to guarantee their safety.
- Assisting teachers during practical experiments especially with mounting apparatus, demonstra-tions and safety checks (gloves, goggles, etc.).
- Checking and verifying prices of materials and chemical products in supplier and distributor cata-logues.
- Fixing, when necessary, broken or damaged equipment which has occurred during experiments, or handing equipment over to the maintenance department to fix.
- Inspecting the state of the computers and referring computers to ICT if they are not in a good enough condition.
- Creating a list in order to reserve computers for students for when they need them during lessons.
- Helping the students at a user level with the computers.
- Disposing of any bacteriological waste (used petri dishes, seeds etc.) Cleaning out the pressure cooker and removing any residue and disposing of it correctly.
