**The Opportunity**:
The Internal Control Specialist will work closely with the Group Head of Internal Control, business and technology process owners and other stakeholders across the group to monitor, test and report on the company's internal controls, suggest remediation to strengthen controls and monitor/track status of same.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Act as the second line of defence (SLOD)within the Internal Control Framework.
- Engage and support the first line of defence (FLOD), being the business and technology functions with appropriate guidance and expertise.
- In line with Internal Control management requirements, develop monitoring, testing and reporting plans to a defined schedule.
- Monitor in conjunction with the business and technology functions changing business and technology environments for items that may impact the controls in place.
- Identify where new processes and or controls would be beneficial to the group.
- Test processes outlined in the company's internal controls program to ensure compliance with regulatory and industry rules.
- Act as the key point of contact for the Internal Control group for assigned controls, monitoring and testing within their designated area of responsibility.
- Evaluate controls, co-ordinate second level testing, identify weaknesses and propose remediation steps to the business and technology functions.
- Understand the output of risk assessments of in scope people, processes and systems.
- Coordinate the scope of the annual internal control testing, ensuring adequate coverage across the group.
- Challenge and validate with business and technology process owners the testing they have completed.
- Assist in establishing Risk and Control Self Assessments (RCSA) for each operational function.
- Maintain SLOD test scripts, evidence of testing and all other documentation to effectively monitor and validate testing of controls is taking place and is focused on the appropriate risks.
- Complete SLOD testing to a defined schedule, alerting the GHIC to any material changes, delays and or other testing concerns which may occur
- Track in a consolidated manner remediation efforts required to resolve, retest and validate the required outcomes.
- Build strong relationship with business and technology process owners and other stakeholders to strengthen knowledge of risks and controls.
- Prepare reporting for various governance forums, including but not limited to Executive Management Meeting & Audit Committee).

**Key Experience & Skills**:

- Experience in internal controls and frameworks.
- SOX/SOC/COBIT/COSO/NIST/ISO.
- Experience in engaging with senior management and executive leadership.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in a FLOD/SLOD controls testing and oversight role.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must possess a high degree of accuracy in work and be detail oriented.
- Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills.
- Good analytical, computer (Word and Excel), and organization skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and timelines.
- Ability to work on own initiative to a defined schedule.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Strong technical understanding of internal controls and COSO/COBIT is desirable.
- Accountancy qualification is desirable.
- Fluency in English is required.
