Consultant, Bioinformatics

We are looking for a Bioinformatics Consultant to join a dynamic team of more than 20 bioinformatics consultants within Clarivate Life Science Consulting Services reporting to Bioinformatics Consulting Manager.

About You - experience, education, skills, and accomplishments
- At least 5 years of experience in a professional setting
- Proven experience in Bioinformatics, Computational or Systems Biology or a related field
- Advanced user of R, and Linux/Unix command line with strong understanding of statistics and data analysis

It would be great if you also:

- Applied your computational biology skills in the context of human disease and drug discovery research
- Have strong statistics or mathematics background or have experience in cheminformatics or with advanced image analysis / computer vision techniques (e.g. image classification, image segmentation, object detection and quantification)
- Worked in industry or provided bioinformatics as a service
- Have experience of defining bioinformatics projects and independently carrying them out

What will you be doing in this role?
- Project management. You will work independently and as part of the team to carry out a variety of bioinformatics analyses ensuring adherence to the agreed project scope, timeline and budget.
- Client Service. You will scope bioinformatics projects by understanding client needs and developing analytical strategy to meet them.
- Portfolio development. You will contribute to improvement of existing and development of new offerings within Bioinformatics Consulting.
- About the Team
- We are a growing team of more than 20 bioinformatics consultants mostly based in Barcelona, Spain with some team members based throughout the rest of Spain and US.
- We provide a wide range of bioinformatics services supporting clients from big pharma to small biotech start-ups, often leveraging Clarivate’s unique content in drug discovery and translation.
- Our work is mostly focused on understanding of disease mechanisms, identification of novel targets and translational medicine support through discovery of biomarkers and patient stratification.
- We also run two consortia with major industry partners around implementation and benchmarking of bioinformatics and Systems Biology algorithms.
- The team culture is dynamic with focus on collaboration and mutual support

Hours of Work
- This is a permanent full-time position at 40 hours a week (35 hours during July and August). The working schedule is flexible, mostly centered on CET time zone with occasional need to accommodate late or early meetings with US or East Asia time zones. The position is hybrid going to the office in Barcelona 2-3 times per week.
