**Job description**:
Eurecat's Omic Sciences Departmet is a mixed unit made up of researchers from Rovira i Virgili University and Eurecat. It carries out its activities using the state-of-the-art infrastructures at the Centre for Omic Sciences (COS).

Functions and Responsibilities:

- The PhD student will design the best CRISPR strategies for different models of microorganism, including bacteria and fungi. Moreover, the student will edit the genomes using molecular biology techniques, and then will check the modifications by next generation sequencing, and additionally will develop metabolomics methods based on fluxomics approaches, untargeted and targeted analysis
- Participate and lead scientific publications
- Provide R&D support to the other colleagues
- Conducting the research, write drafts of scientific papers, and deliver a PhD thesis

Studies and Knowledge:

- Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in biochemist, biotechnology and/or molecular biology.
- Conceptual analytical and evaluative skills to conduct independent research and analysis.
- Proficiency in data management and analysis is required.

Soft Skills:

- The person who will join the team should be a team player and he/she can build collaborative relationships
- He/she should also be able to work in an autonomous way and communicate/document the results in a comprehensible and professional way
- He/she should be self - motivated and passionate about the project and he/she should have strong sense of curiosity and experimentation.
- A certain degree of mobility is expected due to PhD requirements (Conferences and Institutional visits)

Languages:

- High oral and written communication skills in English
- High oral and written communication skills in Catalan or Spanish are desirable
