Private Debt Mobilisation (PDM) is the department of Banco Santander Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB), that is responsible for the distribution to investors of all private credit risk assets of CIB. This includes underwriting transactions, managing the underwriting risk of the bank, market sounding and syndicating, distributing, and hedging those transactions. This role is in the PDM Trade & Working Capital Solutions (TWCS) team, responsible for PDM activity for TWCS transactions, which includes Receivables, Supply Chain Finance (SCF), Documentary Trade and Structured Trade. The successful applicant will be based in Madrid (Boadilla del Monte) part of a dynamic global team with colleagues in New York, London, Frankfurt, Madrid and Hong Kong. This is a young, multi-cultural and very dynamic team, which warmly welcomes and supports new members.

**WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING**
- Assisting the Head of Private Debt Mobilization, Global Transaction Banking for Continental Europe in structuring risk mitigation solutions for new business opportunities
- Preparing presentations and teasers for investors
- Tracking the status of ongoing syndications
- Liaising with internal counterparties in the TWCS business, Risk, Banking and Corporate Finance, Middle and Back Office and other functions
- Accompany the Know Your Customer onboarding process
- Input into systems of closed transactions and maintenance of data quality through time
- Attending investor meetings in person and virtually and ensuring accurate records of these meetings are input into the systems and disseminated to the appropriate parties
- Learning and understanding the market dynamics between banks, insurers, corporate clients and other parties in the value chain
- Supporting strategic portfolio management initiatives by analysing cost and portfolio structures and doing research
- Regular travel to Frankfurt, and to some extent Paris and Milan
- In due course there will be opportunities to start working independently on transactions, offering these to investors directly and managing the whole process of syndicating transactions from end to end
- As part of a wider team, there will be opportunities in the future for exposure to other asset classes and geographies within TWCS.

**EXPERIENCE**

between 3-5 years of experience.

**REQUIRED SKILLS**
- Strong analytical and interpersonal skills and the ability to thrive in a flexible, dynamic and demanding work environment
- A solid interest in, and knowledge of, the Corporate and Investment banking industry and Banco Santander’s place within it
- Good numerical skills and ability to think through situations logically and calmly
- Ability to multi-task under pressure
- Strong work ethic and ability to learn quickly
- Fluency in English.

**KNOWLEDGE**:

- German language ability will be a strong differentiator
- Italian or French language helpful
- Spanish language helpful (In due course you will be expected to learn to speak Spanish fluently as you will be based in Madrid. The bank will be able to provide lessons.)
- Superior powerpoint and/or excel skills
- Existing knowledge of TWCS products a bonus
